Midwifery services
Fran's postnatal midwifery care is complete, she works collaboratively with your GP or Obstetrician, once a referral is received. Fran's Midwifery endorsement means she can prescribe medications related to your postnatal pathway for the first 6 weeks for you and/or your baby when needed. She can also request patholgy investigations if needed. The benefit of accessing midwifery care for your postnatal journey means you will be given time, empathy, reassurance and exceptional clinical care.
Initial/long postnatal home visit (1.5-2 hrs)
The Initial Postnatal home visit is advised within weeks 1-2. Medicare/Private health rebates available:
- Comprehensive history taking
- Vital signs
- Abdominal/perineal check
- Breasfeeding/feeding support
- Baby care and settling techniques
- Top to toe baby check including weight
- Discussion of emotional health/diet/excercise
- Birth debrief
- Contraception advice
- Prescriptions if required
- Ordering of pathology investigations
- No referral required
- 2 weeks text support
- Follow up visit recommended
Follow-up/short postnatal visit/6 week postnatal home visits (1 hr)
This shorter postnatal visit is of benefit if your journey is not complicated, and beneficial as follow up after inital visit completed . Medicare rebates apply. This visit must be completed before the start of your 7th week:
- Vital signs
- Abdominal/perineal check
- Postnatal health and wellbeing
- Breastfeeding/feeding support
- Top to toe baby check including weight
- Baby care and settling
- Prescriptions/pathology investigations if required
- No referral required
- 1 week text support
Follow-up telephone consult
An add-on to Midwifery visits only, allowing extra time & focus for breastfeeding follow up, or, support after complications in the postnatal period. Medicare rebates available. The telephone consult must be completed before the start of your 7th week postnatally:
- Breastfeeding progress discussion
- Baby follow-up
- Follow-up on medications if required
- Baby care and settling advice
- Emotional support
- A written feeding plan within 24hrs
- No referral required
- 1 week text support
Lactation Consultations and pricing
Support for all breastfeeding issues including; slow weight gain; tongue-tie; oversupply; undersupply; nipple trauma/pain; lactose overload; breastfeeding twins/triplets; expressing; paced feeding and other complex complications.
Initial Lactation Consultation (1.5-2 hrs)
This service is available at any point in your feeding pathway. Private health rebates available:
- History taking and discussion of breastfeeding needs
- Assessment of baby's behaviour, sleep and feeding needs
- Breast exam
- Baby weigh and examination
- Oral exam
- Observation of breastfeed
- Expressing support if required
- Supportive creation of feeding plan
- Referral if required
- Written copy of plan via email within 24 hrs
- 2 weeks text support
Follow up Lactation Consultation (1 hr)
This visit is only available after an initial visit is complete. You may not need follow-up after your initial consult, but sometimes 1-2 further visits may help depending on your circumstances:
- Catch up on progress/emotional needs/sleep
- Breastfeed observation
- Breast examination
- Baby weigh and examination
- Revision of plan
- Referral if needed
- Email plan within 24 hrs
- 2 weeks text support
Antentatal Breastfeeding Educaton (2 hrs)
This education is provided in your own home. A group session in your home reduces cost to $160 per person (max 6). The host will recieve a discount of $25 per guest in attendance.
